Plainfield Public Schools is excited to welcome Margaret Pearson as its new Supervisor of Pupil Services, beginning April 1st, 2024. Ms. Pearson brings over 15 years of experience in special education leadership and programming. Most recently, Ms. Pearson served as Director of Pupil Services for Sterling Public Schools, overseeing special education services and compliance for the district. Prior to that role, she worked as a Director of Special Education in both Scotland and Lisbon school districts, Assistant Director of Pupil Services in Weston, as well as an adjunct professor at Sacred Heart University. According to Superintendent Paul M. Brenton, "We’re thrilled to have Margaret join our administrative team. Her depth of knowledge and passion for inclusion will help us continue building supportive, student-centered programming that meets the needs of all learners in Plainfield." In her new role, Ms. Pearson will work under the Director of Pupil Services, Mrs. Jessica Fitch, supporting teachers as they manage student needs. She will also work closely with district leadership to align policies and initiatives to support positive outcomes for all students. She brings expertise in assessment, instructional strategies, dispute resolution, and equity-focused leadership. Ms. Pearson shared, "I’m honored to join Plainfield Public Schools and look forward to collaborating with teachers, staff, families, and students to foster a culture of acceptance and success." Ms. Pearson earned her Bachelors’ degree in General Studies at the University of New Mexico and her Masters’ degree in Early Childhood and Special Education at George Washington University. She went on to complete her leadership program at Sacred Heart University. Ms. Pearson is well-prepared to guide Plainfield in enhancing special education services and furthering the district’s mission to serve all students. PLAINFIELD MEMORIAL SCHOOL AND SHEPARD HILL ELEMENTARY NAMED SCHOOLS OF DISTINCTION [Plainfield CT November 20, 2023] – In a remarkable achievement that underscores their commitment to academic excellence, growth and student success, Plainfield Memorial School and Shepard Hill Elementary School have been awarded the prestigious "Schools of Distinction" status. In the State of Connecticut there are over 900 schools with 153 schools earning the Schools of Distinction” status. Plainfield has two schools to earn this recognition. This accolade, granted by the Connecticut Department of Education, recognizes these institutions for their outstanding accomplishments in overall high performance, high academic growth, and/or greatest overall improvement while fostering a positive learning environment and achieving exemplary academic outcomes.
